Generators that are portable, and quiet are available, altho quiet may be a relative term. Because of the nature of the engine, a noiseless portable power generator can only happen by isolating it; on construction sites, you'll see the generator positioned as far away as possible. But an improved muffler system or specially-constructed enclosures can certainly help reduce things by a few decibels.
