One great advantage of portable gas generators is that fuel, whether it's gasoline or propane, is relatively easy to get. In an emergency, it may be no closer than your car or lawnmower. Portable generators that use gas are also easy to maintain and repair, if need be. Spare parts are plentiful, and of course should be stocked up and on hand in case the situation make it difficult or impossible to travel.
