OK for occasioal use August 15, 2010 Jim I compared the HW1000i ($325) to my Yamaha ef1000is ($800)
The HW1000i had a greater surge power but the fuel efficiency was poor, combined with the smaller fuel tank it required me to fill the tank twice as much as the Yamaha.
The HW1000i tended to stall and even die with no apparent reason.
For short term occasional use the Honeywell is a good choice because of the price.
I am have my concerns about the Honeywell lasting very long.
It Works August 10, 2010 jb_sb13461 Small light weight generator that works. A good choice for running a few lights and recharging a camper battery, which is why we purchased it. Not as quiet as the Honda but close.
Great product August 6, 2010 mtaylor6 Used this generator on recent camping trip for three days in a row and it worked great.
Moderately Happy Honeywell Owner August 2, 2010 Moderately Happy 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I own 2 Honeywell 1000i generators. They both receive about 20h of use per week in a light commercial setting (auto detailing; max amps is 3). One runs perfectly and I've never had a problem with it. The other is a pain in the..... It requires many pulls to start, dies unexpectedly requiring frequent restarting, won't idle, the eco mode doesn't work and so it runs at max rpm the whole time and the breaker is finicky on it and often pops (even when the tool in use is 3 amps).
I am pleased with the first generator, pretty displeased with the second. The sound for both is reasonable, as is the weight/compactness. Sure, the Honda/Yamaha are better, but they are $800/$700. And probably accordingly better. For $400 you get what you pay for, but next time I'll save up and get a Yamaha for $700 and omit all the hard starting problems that I have.
Real Nice Gen June 28, 2010 coy skipper Great little Generator would say no one will be upset with it. It's real Quality in a small package
