Great value for the money September 4, 2010 G. Strauch (New Hampshire) So far I am delighted with this XP4400E generator. It arrived via FEDEX fine, packing is superb, and assembly of wheel kit and handles was very straiaght forward. I did charge the battery overnight before adding oil and preparing unit to start. It started immediately and ran smooth right out of the box. I really do like the electric start feature as my wife can start generator with no problems. Unit is not too loud and is easily moved about on the wheels. Only tested so far by running a vacuum cleaner. I am planning to have transfer switch wired into our breaker panelmainly to run well pump, pellet stove and a few lights. The included instruction manual is quite good and includes detailed parts listing.
Electric Start Nice Feature if I WORKS! September 3, 2010 Jubes (Rocky Mount, NC) Overall, this generator meets my needs and is very quiet. However, don't waste your money on the electric start, mine did not work.
Horrible Company, Bad Product September 2, 2010 Leanne Howie (Corona, CA, US) On June 17, 2010, we purchased a Duromax XP4400E portable generator from
Max Tool after speaking to Arvin in Sales/Customer Service and explaining what
the generator would be used for, a 1-1/2 Hp 230 volt AC single phase water
pump. This generator is advertised as having a max AC output of 4400 watts
and a rated AC output of 3500 watts. When connecting the generator to the
pump and attempting to run it, we discovered that the pump would run for
approximately 12 to 14 seconds before tripping the electrical breaker on the
generator.
When confronting Max Tool with this problem on Tuesday, July 6th, Max Tool's
customer support said that the breaker is set for 15 amps, and that the generator
is too small for the water pump. It was also said that their sales people didn't
know everything about their products. It was then said that we should sell the
generator (as they do not take returns on used generators) and purchase a larger
size generator from them. We told them this was unacceptable as they were the
ones who recommended this generator for this application in the first place.
Max Tool does not honor their products, nor their customers. Horrible experience - will file a law suite to cover our out of pocket costs for this worthless generator.
power to spare August 16, 2010 Howard (Montana) I bought this for a friend, and it seems to be a good one. The wheel kit is a good one, shipping was a little rough, it came upside down and the container was tough shape. It really starts easy. The battery came charged.
Great piece of Equipment August 9, 2010 Kendall Cottongim (Westerville, OH, US) I bought this to run an air conditioner on a travel trailer and it worked great. The gas consumption was acceptable also. It actually powered the air conditioner, a laptop and a microwave all at one time. A great buy for the price.
